In the year 1997, the British-made film 'The Full Monty' was the highest grossing movie at the UK box office, for the first time a computer (IBM's Deep Blue) defeated grand master Garry Kasparov in a match, and Oasis' album Be Here Now was the best selling album in the UK. There were many other events too!
