The frames are 25mm deep (from front to back), have mdf backing board, 2mm transparent perspex at the front (which won't crack or shatter in transit), and an adjustable slip over hanger. Frames are made of quality solid wood. A4 frames also have a strut back so you can either hang them on the wall or they will stand up on their own.
